Sheila's classes are grounded in principles of alignment and the elements of yoga with a mindful approach to sensing into the subtle body while building strength from deep within.
"The practices and advice Sheila gives, the poems she speaks, all communicated through the artistic use of her voice and by her beautiful, caring person, is a deeply aesthetic experience that heals the body and raises up the soul." - J. Harris

"Sheila is a teacher of rare skill, her classes woven with intelligence, wisdom, deep goodness. I have been studying yoga for several decades, am a yoga teacher and yoga therapist myself, but when I did a private with Sheila I found a true teacher of rare skill, amazing knowledge of the body and pure kindness that genuinely radiates from her soul. For the first time in 9 months I no longer had pain. Sheila is a true healer of exceptional abilities, sweet humility and endless compassion. Her classes and privates are woven with intelligence, wisdom and a deep goodness that leave you relaxed and yet energized. She is an absolute gem." - Karen Hoglund

SATYA (Sensory Awareness Training for Yoga Attunement)
SATYA is a somatic practice that introduces new neural pathways into the body, increases one's overall sensitivity in the sensory-motor system. Gliding, sliding, and unwinding movements are done on the floor in a flowing fashion allowing for a deep inner listening, increasing proprioceptive awareness and reducing myo-fascial holdings and restrictions in the body; joints are mobilized creating more space. Soft, slow movements support profound physical rest of the body removing fatigue. SATYA guides us away from “doing” or controlling movement and allow for us to move toward sensing, receiving and “being” movement.
This practice is a wonderful adjunct to our yoga practice, other physical activities, and activities in our daily lives.
"Gentle, flowing movements yields amazing results"
"Our family was introduced by Sheila to the SATYA practice about three years ago and we try to never miss a class. We face issues of flexibility and balance, and SATYA provides a great solution. The gentle, flowing movements yield amazing results and leave us feeling better after each class. By the way, we love Sheila's level 1 and gentle yoga classes too. Her knowledge of human anatomy, muscle movement and bone structure always deliver that little extra to each class." Randy and Jan Jordan
" A sense of renewed energy and calm"
"Sheila guides you through a class gently, lovingly and knowingly. She is sincere, wise and unpretentious. Sheila invites her students to reflect on the challenges and joys of life both on and off the mat. You leave her class with a sense of renewed energy and calm." - Puja V.
"Teaches with clarity"
" Sheila is one of the best yoga instructors! She teaches with clarity, at a comfortable pace with a thorough understanding of anatomy and mind-body awareness."
- Rebecca C.
"Such a huge impact on how my body feels"
" I have taken yoga classes off and on for years, and Sheila is by far the most knowledgeable instructor I have had in my experience. Combining her skills as a physical therapist with yoga instruction, Sheila is wonderful at describing how each pose is affecting which parts of your body and in what way, which I so appreciate. As a result, I learn a lot about my own body! And her more recent SATYA training and classes have done wonders for me. It has been truly amazing to learn how such small, repetitious movements can make such a huge impact on how my body feels. Sheila is the absolute best!"

"Exactly what I need to be more calm"
" Sheila is one of the most thoughtful, supportive yoga instructors I’ve ever had. She cares. She makes sure you’re doing poses correctly and her gentle nature shines as a teacher. I absolutely love her Somatic classes. They’ve been exactly what I need to be more calm, release fascia and emotional blocks in my muscles. The last class I literally felt muscles shaking as they released old “stuff.” I could only be that vulnerable in one of her classes."
- Laura Black
"Sheila’s approach is nourishing not only to my body, but my soul." - Ann F.
"Guides us through slow intentional movements"
" SATYA is a unique, calming, and almost magical way of working with, incorporating, and giving attention to our body's fascial system. Sheila guides us through the practice using very slow, intentional and gentle sliding and gliding movements - done on the floor - to reduce myo-fascial patterns and restrictions that we may be holding in our bodies. The practice is actually an internal listening to our bodies. From a physical perspective it helps mobilize joints and remove fatigue. It's like getting an internal massage. It's also incredibly calming and relaxing. Practice some self-focused loving kindness and give SATYA a try. You'll be so glad you did." - Steven Loch
"Will always be grateful"
"The best yoga teacher ever! When I could not play tennis after three (none my fault) wrecks in 13 months, Shelia got me into yoga so I wouldn’t hurt myself and then back I got on the tennis courts! For this I will always be grateful to you my friend!"
- Peggy

"Gets to know each student individually"
"Sheila's attention to getting to know each student individually makes sure that she provides you with the best instruction. She gets to know what each student struggles with and makes sure to keep this in mind while she's teaching and goes above and beyond to reach out to students outside of class to make sure they are getting what they need."- Winifred Lezine
"Creates an accessible space for all"
